Nils’ Hands

Nils has all kind of strange stuffs on his hands and arms. I, on the contrary, do not carry or have anything at all. Most of the time I only have my wallet. Nowadays I do try to carry around my Panasonic camera. Have I mentioned he has a collection of knives and a sword or two? I shall take a picture of him imitating Darth Vader.

Dead possum and noise pollution!

On my way to the pool early this morning, I saw another dead possum body. I really do not like them much but the view of their fragile body on the pathway is always something sad to me. The dead body will stay there for few days and get decomposed. The view and the smell of a decomposed possum almost made me puke one time.
I also noticed how noisy St Lucia is! Early in the morning the birds would wake me up with their songs. It is not very pretty and I remember that, during my first few days in Australia, I wanted to shoot some of them. There are also the cars and the motorbikes. The worse event is probably the 5-7 pm electrical noises: for some strange reasons, the power poles get very noisy between these two hours. It has been 3 years now and I still cannot get used to that noise. Maybe someday, someone will fix that noise pollution, I doubt it will be done before I leave. Most of the time I have to use earplugs or headphones because of this constant noise pollution.

Dionaea muscipula!

I bought this carnivorous plant to eat flies. There are too many in Brisbane during the summer. I tried to play with it and it works great. You just slide somehing thin between the trap and it closes itself very quickly…quite impressive! Hopefully it will eat as many flies as it can! On the right hand side, it is a BAILEY. I love this Irish creme. I will drink some tonight to help me to sleep. I had only 4 hours and half of sleep the last two days.

He is my oldest IRC friend (~7 years). He was among the very first people who welcomed me to the dark side of internet. Today I heard him saying he had a friendly driving lesson last Saturday. I laughed a lot. He is about the same age as me and he does not have a driving license yet. To me it was one of the most important things to get when I grew up. It is like being independent: FREEDOM! Funny thing is he might be getting his flying license BEFORE his driving license.

Monday Monday Monday!

I just do not like Mondays! I usually do not sleep well Sunday night so I am wasted on Monday morning. On my way to the pool, there were tons of trash bins that were bowled over. Another usual event! Some drunk people find it amusing to do that on their way home. People should not take their trash out anyways, some people leave their bins out all the time! It is very annoying!
My body is a bit sore today, I could not run much last week due to the rain. So the swim was a bit unpleasant but there were not many people surprisingly. At 4.2 kms, there was in the air this horrible smell, a burning smell. I could barely breath. During the summer, there are a lot of bush fires in Brisbane and its surroundings. People do not seem affected by the smell but it is KILLING me. I finally understand the pain of a person who is allergic! I cannot breath and worse of all, I seem to be the only one suffering from this horrible smell.
Yesterday, my neighbor showed me his place when I was about to go to Indooroopilly shopping center. I liked his place, very clean and ordered like mine. He is renovating his kitchen. He told me he bought his place for 357k. I thought it would be worth more. If I had a regular job, I can probably afford to buy my place now. He likes to play chess, maybe I’ll ask him to play a game sometimes. I probably need to play a few on yahoo.games first.

People often ask me nowadays whether I use some dye to color my hair. This picture best illustrates why they ask such question. They do turn copper-like shade because of the chlorinated water in the pool and the Australian sun.
