A rest!

This weekend has been a good rest for my body. I had plenty of sleep and I didn’t do anything physically intense on Saturday besides the morning swim. I won’t attend the biweekly hiking event today, I already did the walk two times and it looks like no one really wants to attend it either because of the very early hour: 7 am for a Sunday morning!

Yesterday, I had the unpleasant surprise of having my debit card expired at the shopping center. I am lucky I had my american visa card with me. Paul will pay my $16 dinner :) . I gave a call and had the new one activated. It would be funny to find myself without cash or debit card for the rest of the weekend. I don’t have anything left in the fridge and Nils is out and about.  Nils will be gone for a month and half on vacation and I will find myself all alone for at least 3 weeks. I will be on vacation from Dec. 19 until Jan. 2 with Anne, Fabien and Fabien’s brother. I cannot wait for Christmas Holidays to kick in. It will be a new year and time for some good and serious resolutions: Time to make major changes n the directions taken by my life.

Kangaroo Island!

Anne and Fabien are back from their trip. I stole few really nice pictures from them for my blog (theirs is down btw!) I might go to Kangaroo island sometimes later. One day seems to be enough to visit the whole place, Anne told me.

Beowulf!

It was very good and I enjoyed the 3D effects, quite impressive. The story was a bit sad but it will keep your attention all the way. The next movie for me will be the Golden Compass (Dec. 26).

I have a problem at one of my tooth and it seems bad. I do not have any problem generally with the outside of my teeth but it seems that the roots are weak. Last time I had an infection that cost me a healthy molar after 3 years and 3 operations. They were very painful.  I will have to take a X-ray and check this out. :(

Such is life.

I play this song in circle since my brother sent it to me. Very addictive rhythm.

More Hair!

I am the only person I know who will leave Australia with more hair than he had when he first arrived. I also got a tan and I swim like a fish nowadays. My running is probably worse than before because I had some minor injuries.

Unbelievable but time flies so fast! I really have the impression it’s been only few months ago since I landed in Brisbane International Airport. All these flatmates I shared with, two taiwanese students (1 month and half); a profession worker called Hugo Marais (7 months); a german couple (4 months); a UQ student called Marco (4 months); an australian girl (3 months), a UQ post-doc called Tom (9 months) and finally Nils.

My life would have been totally different if I had stayed in New York. It is impossible to say now if it would be better. Where to go next then? I wish I can predict that next location so I do not have to worry about it. I am a bit tired of wandering around the world and not knowing where I will be after 5 years. I think I have never stayed in the same location for more than 5 years since I left my house at the age 18. I am currently looking towards Quebec and Canada job market.

Who are you?

I am curious because you, my mystery reader, are quite regular on my blog but I do not know you besides your IP address.  Maybe you can tell me whether you know me and give me hints about your identity, your blog link?

I was very tired this morning. I had a strange dream in which I saw myself and my family back in the old times when we started our lives in France. Nothing sad or happy about the dream but for some reason it was very clear. It means I guess that I did not sleep well. So the swim was not very enjoyable. I was quite fast I think. I passed all people in my lane which was not too hard. At one time it was so crowded because the team squad lanes were full. The coach was nice, packed his people and freed up one lane. He immediatly saw my moves as I waited and he told me” Pierre, Lane 4″. It was funny because he almost considered me as one of the squad members. :)

Besides few people in the squads, I only count 4 regulars who are faster than me nowadays. They do not swim that long though! Another chick tried to pass me, I added a little more strength to my strokes to remind her nicely that she just jumped in the pool and that she should not underestimate me. Indeed she was slower… much slower after two laps. This is a common mistake people tend to do. As they just jump in the pool, they are fresh and fast but they usually …don’t last like me. After few laps, they tend to be extremely slow whereas I maintain the same speed all the way and that for 120 laps.

I downloaded this book to learn more about photography: US Navy Training Course: Photography (Basic). It reminds me a lot my school books from my preparation school for high level mathematics. The book is very precise and easy to follow. I knew all the basic theory at one time in my life but it is very refreshing to read up again the fundamentals. Anne and Fabien are at Kangaroo Island until Thursday. I probably lost my most regular blog reader until then.

Second life is dead boring, I expected something like the Matrix. Well it was more or less the Sims or worse Pokemon. It was just a first impression though. I will give it another serious try sometimes.
