Rise of Nations

Yesterday finally it happened! Anne, Fabien, Kegel, Nils, and Paul joined me in this great online game: a person in real life, a person from internet and my family members all together on a computer screen. I would love to have a person I run/swim with and a person I hike with joining as well. I doubt it will ever happen.

The sad note is that my team (Kegel, Nils and myself) lost the game. I was as usual a bad player so I sent the last nuke to trigger the armagedon, meaning it was a DRAW. Next time, I will block that option. It is not nice to use it and you don’t really need it. I need to play more with Nils so we can coordinate our actions better. He is the very first flatmate I play games with online and I’ve been sharing for 13 years now. I had a lot of fun. I wished we did not lag that much but it was “playable”.

I didn’t sleep enough yesterday. The neighbor above me was really noisy and I didn’t have any alcohol to help me to sleep. The excitation from the game didn’t help either. When I loose I always want to have a revenge.  Finally, the intensive swimming this week really killed my shoulders. I felt every single lap I had to count today. Not enjoyable at all!

Nice swim we both had, I believed! A girl in a blue suit jumped suddenly in the pool and she was fast. I was up to the challenge. I had nothing to loose since I already did my 4kms. I could keep up and maintained a decent 5 meters between us for another 2kms. I think she got the idea of the game after few turns because we both accelerated :). I felt exhausted after she left but more importantly I felt a bit lonely. It is always nice to find people who swim about the same speed as you. I am looking forward to seeing her again. I am sure she is much faster, it was just one of these good days for me.

Peter, another swim mate, is back. He is always as good but a bit out of shape after 2 weeks and half of vacation in Europe. He needed 6 full turns to pass me first and then 12 turns after and he couldn’t do it again. Maybe I am getting better?

Ouch!

I just hit the wall. That hurt! It happens sometimes and today was not a good day for it to happen. My shoulders are really sore.

This morning, I tried hard to convince my body to reproduce the exploit from yesterday. It remained deaf to any argument I could provide, from sweet-talk to challenge motivation. I had to agree with my body. It was just too much 7 kms and it won’t happen again! The good thing is every time I do something beyond my limits, it seems so easy to do the usual stuffs after.

Here is a nice graph of my blog stats (number of hits per day). Not too bad considering that only 7 people, I know, are checking it. How come people don’t put more comments? “Lewsers”!

Unbelievable

I swam 7 kms (140 laps) this morning by mistake. I miscounted by 20 laps!!! I noticed I miscounted a lot these days because I am just completely wasted at the end. So no swimming the last three days (hiking + Sunday + thunderstorm) and a lot of excitation because of the Nikon d200 has unleashed the beast in me. After 6 kms, it is extremely painful to add every single lap but adding 20 without feeling it! Geez! I need to buy more expensive stuffs I think.

Good Monday?

7:00 I had plenty of sleep and I am rather in a good mood. I have received an email from Fedex Australia. I had to pay $231 to clear up custom fees. My little new toy is in transit and I cannot wait to hold it in my hands. I wonder what my first photo shall be. Wanna make a wild guess? It has rained a lot since yesterday evening and the thunderstorms prevented me from swimming this morning. I did not mind much strangely! It was weird to start work that early though!

18:00 Three days only after payment, it has arrived. Could you only imagine how anxious I was when I picked it up? I am going to give to this seller on ebay the best feedback ever! Now I need the second piece for it to work: the lens!

TO-DO List!

On this beautiful and relaxing Sunday afternoon, I am a happy man. That’s right! All the little annoying things I wanted to do and never got around to do them were finally done. Here is the full list:

#1: I finally painted the number 4 on my trash bin with the french flag colors. Now people will know it belongs to flat #4.

#2: I cleaned up the backyard. The bloke above my flat kept on throwing stuffs. He said it is for the possum but no possum would eat that!

#3: I bought a carpet for the front door. The bloke above me again threw away my old one!

#4: I took away a mass of blond hair on my bathroom window. I could not reach it from inside and had to use a long stick outside.

#5: I bought new brush heads for my Sonic electrical toothbrush. Have I told you it works with sound? Yes!!!! I am very sophisticated.

#6: I cleaned up the garage. I made sure the spiders had time to move away from their web. I would like to keep them for the flies!

7# I bought new soap powders for the washing machine. It was quite heavy to carry home!

#8 I finally synchronised my web and photos folders! I am always afraid of loosing my latest data and modifications.

#9 I upgraded WordPress to version 2.3.1 and everything is working GREAT! Excellent!

There you go. All done! Time for a new TO-DO list.

Springbrook II

I received an email from Tomas, my fellow hiker. He wanted to go back to Springbrook and asked me if I wanted to join him. Of course, I joined him again. It rained a lot two days ago so there was a lot more water. The place just looks better!

No pain no glory!

I am tired, only 4 hours of sleep yesterday because I was doing some coding on my blog late. The 120 laps were endless! I might have miscounted though. It happens a lot these days because I get distracted by the Finis underwater mp3 player. I guess it will make my shoulders look even bigger than usual. I was not in a mood today to help anyone. Please do avoid me if you ever see me in real life. It is one of these countless times when I need to be with myself…yes my true-self!

I wonder why I try so hard to count exactly 120 laps, why I run 14 kms on a hill. Maybe I have a mental problem if I enjoy so much the pain. As I said I like to do unusual things. Whatever you do that makes you unique is worth it?

So I ordered my Nikon D200 and the 18-200 mm DX VR lens separately. The total price is about $2800. This is my biggest bid on ebay ever. I am keeping my fingers crossed! I do not want any problem with any of these items. They are way too expensive and I am hoping they will arrive quickly. The shipping cost is very expensive!

If everything comes as expected I will be taking tons of pictures of …..MEEEEEEEEEEEE! HAHA!
