Ridiculous tattoo!

Most of the time I see decent tattoo and I just think about these people who will regret it when they get older as the tattoo fades and the skin ages. Today for the first time I saw a fat dude with a tattoo on his ass at th pool. I couldn’t help but laugh. It was horrible and I think about the person who had to put it there!

Waiting for a watch and a plane!

My new watch should arrive anytime this week and my plane is in 10 days. I am feeling very relaxed as most of my decisions have been taken. Like a burden you get off your shoulders when your mind is set to do certain things.
Today I almost hit the girl I hurt last week. She was very angry and did not forget what happened last week. I did not say anything but it was mainly her fault. She swims slower and she is in a fast lane and she has this bad habit of stopping and resuming without checking who is coming behind her. Also she kept on being in the middle.Anyways who cares! only few days left and I won’t see her again. What a shame though, I really this swimming pool. Three years ago when I first tried it, I thought it was one of the dirtiest swimming pool I have see. :). Out door swimming pools tend to be messy…spiders, frogs, bird, all of them want to share the pool with you!

Packing and Cleaning!

In other terms that means throwing things away for me! I gave a bottle of Cognac to the swim coach, he seems to appreciate the unexpected gift. My left shoulder is a bit painful because I have been pushing myself too much to compete with some fast kids at the pool! I bought a Casio G-shock watch on ebay after 2 years. I bought a plane ticket for my next destination and I also booked 4 days in a hotel with breakfast. I guess it means there is no return to Paris… that is good!

Recovery weekend!

I had a lot of sleep. It was a nice and quiet weekend. Last week I was mainly sick. The swims were a bit painful because the weather is getting colder as well. There is an annoying old man who tried to be in the same lane as mine. I really don’t like him because he tends to swim too much in the middle.

The last 5 days were horrible! fever, headaches and coughs. It is over now and I didn’t have to use antibiotics, I thought of using them but resisted. Also the last three days were alcohol free. It really disturbed my sleeping pattern. Now I sleep much better! I swam like a fish again today but it is getting colder. I felt it more than the rest I think because I stayed in the pool for an hour and 25 min. I hope soon no one would come again because of the winter. I will not be here when it will be extremely cold though. I also gave the expensive Cognac bottle to the swim team manger/coach. I hope he will appreciate.
My poor chinese labmate had the sad surprise of finding out that the $500 he received before the conference at Melbourne was dedicated to the room payment. He did not go out to eat in order to save that money. In the end, he had to pay for the room and didn’t enjoy much Melbourne! And today he is lat, I bet he is pissed!

I m recovering from a horrible cold I caught overnight. My throat was so sore on Friday night! I had a bit of fever as well but the worse is behind me now. I cannot run today for sure but Monday I shall run up to Mt Cootha again.

My last science presentation!

It felt good to finish the last and probably the most painful exercise in my postdoc career. These meetings and presentations are very stressful! I had two good questions from an unexpected professor. That’s it! Now the road is leading to an end. Next year by this time, I will have hopefully a different career!
