A very quiet night yesterday indeed! Good sleep and excellent swim. I talked to two fast swimmers at the pool today and asked them about the fast, private lanes. They do not mind me swimming with them and one of them made me laugh when she said the public fast lanes were crap and full of people who were like “shit”. I just told her they were a bit slow and she confirmed! My new goggles weren’t good, I need to return and exchange them. They leak.
New Desperate House Wives: (Season5)! I did not know they were available :). I thought season 4 was the end. I also saw Dexter’s new episodes. I kind of lost interest in Dexter. I am currently downloading “Just shoot me” for Amy. It is not bad!

Very bad day!

I had a very short night, one of my flatmate had friends in the common kitchen and I could not sleep. After going out 2 times asking them to talk less loudly, I asked them to leave at the 3rd time. My flatmate had the idea to try to insist to stay I told him to leave now or I’d call someone to make them leave!…an unexpected verbal fight. I had a hard time swimming today due to lack of sleep and my body is sore.
I called the french bank and they had no idea what happened to the credit card they requested for me. I called the Australian fund and they confirmed they’ve sent a cheque by regular airmail to me and had no idea where the bank draft is also….The good side of it is that if they loose, it I will request the fund to be transferred to my Australian bank. The conversion was not in my favor!
Two old internet friends, Boshit and Nobod, reappeared like ghost from the past and I knew bad things would happen. My life is like a circle!
My blog was messed up and I had to fix it today!

I did not enjoy much the social side. I had the impression half of the group did not like me much. I usually set a quick pace when I am in group 1, the hardest group.

Ready to Rumble!

Water/windproof pants + water/windproof hat + thermal base layer to protect against the cold. I am ready for tomorrow’s Hike. The thermal base layer is really nice, makes me look like an athlete. It was made in germanny and it fits me like a charm. I love it! The weather seems nice though according to the forecast. They will be usefull next time I am sure. The weather in England is so bad!
Let’s see also how the group will react from now on. They are still reluctant to change their methods. Their forum is not too bad but it looks quite ugly. Maybe I can convince them to change it sometimes. My post is now one of the most popular one. People even outside of the Hiking club answered to the post.
We shall see!

My last coin!

I was waiting and waiting for the AUD to go higher compared to the Euro and it would not happen. So in the end, I had to transfer money from my french bank instead! But I did it last Friday so I was a bit short on cash during the weekend. Also the expensive trip with the Couch Surfing Group on Saturday and the dinner on Sunday with an old friend, Skye, from Australia left me with 5.80 GBPS on Monday.
Then I wanted to send to Kegel, the dutch bloke from IRC, my router. I ended with 90 pence lefts! It was funny because I still could use my Australian credit card but I could not withdraw cash. I would need one coin to put in the machine at the pool. I was quite happy to see my Barclays account credited with cash on Tuesday night but then I realized I did not need the coin on Wednesday because of the polo team!
My unexpected fame kept on pursuing me! My post went all the way up to 290 hits! Everyone seems to want to add their voice now to the post. I went on Wednesday paying for my next hiking trip and things have changed. Everyone is now quiet and polite. They were waiting for me to speak out first. I was as usual not very talkative so the admin guy had to ask if everything was working for me now. I told him there was still some problems but I could manage to transfer all my pictures to their forum. I think they are happy now!
Very funny how things turned out in the end!

Unexpected Fame!

It has been 6 weeks now that I am in Manchester and things have started sadly in a bad way for me. I kept on running into awkward situations and people would be more or less rude to me. So I tried to be as simple as I could and disappear in the crowd. I kept on posting my pictures links on Flickr and gave the link to the Uni Hiking group. My post was being ignored most of the time even though there were tons of people viewing it. Yesterday something unexpected happened! Sarah, a girl I met at the very first hike, posted a very nice comment to my post:
“Wow! I’ve been looking for the Keswick pictures for ages. It was so beautiful. You are an amazing photographer. Shame you got my ugly mug in the pictures,
I’m gonna come on another hike soon 
Sara x”
Then all of a sudden all the attention were drawn to me. I was very happy. Catherine, one of the team leader, asked me then to post my pictures on their Forum. I had to tell her I ran into technical issues with the site and then another member tried to solve the issue. Many people then hit on the links and my stats on Flickr went all the way up.
Now everyone knows who is the weirdo with a fancy camera called Pierre!

I had two very hard hikes consecutively! Capel Curig last Sunday was very windy and Langdale this week was very wet. I really thought I had no “acceptable pictures” from Capel Curig but I did have some decent ones. I felt very good after though. Yesterday it was very nice on the social side. Everyone was kind and open. I was never deceived when I went hiking with people from Couch Surfing.

Quiet Weekend!

No Hiking with the Uni club but Hiking with Couch Surfing people in Manchester this Saturday. I wish I did not commit because the weather forecast does not look good and it is a pain to walk in the rain and with gusts up to 55 mph! I wanted to meet some Couch Surfers in Manchester anyway. They are all newbies concerning hiking so probably no long and painful hikes! What a shame because Sunday looks alright but some of them already bought their tickets! I will never commit again 4 days before an event so that I can check the weather forecast.
Law is boring to death. I need to be careful and not let myself fail any exam. There are resit sessions in the summer but I do not want to retake an exam. The passing score being 40%, I should be able to manage it! My new french credit card should arrive on Monday, I am starting to run out of cash. I did not want to make a banking transfer from Australia because the AUD is pretty low compared to the GBP right now!
Amy’s BF seems quiet, I have not heard anything from them yet…GOOD!

A Scary Thought!

Monday night at 11 pm, I received a SMS from a team leader in the hiking group asking me if I have lost anything in the bus. I confirmed it was my Ipod. Suddenly I had a very uncomfortable thought. Usually when I move, I used to put a very important personal file called memo.txt on my Ipod. It contains every single information about me: banking access, Social Security number, Ebay, Paypal accounts, etc… and also very important emails kept over the years, etc… Anyway, a person having access to this file could have done a lot of damages if it was her/his intention. I usually never carry this file on my Ipod, it is on my local Hard Drive in my room or on my yahoo email account. I could not sleep overnight. I recovered the Ipod and I was happy to see that it was virgin. It had nothing important on it. I indeed had to burn an ISO file of Windows XP and I had to wipe out all the files on the Ipod.
I returned the new Ipod and I was happy. I also accidently blocked my french credit card because I forgot the code and I typed it twice. I called them and they will reissue a new one. How annoying this stupid credit card is!

Too Windy!

For the hike on Sunday, it was too windy. We reached the top but came back quickly the same way. No pictures could be taken! I am happy I survived and came back in one piece. Not much fun! Everyone had their own climbing buddy so they stayed among themselves. I did not care much. I came, climbed and went back alone. I was tired, wet and my boots were full of mud! Was it worth it? I do not think so! I am happy I did not even think about joining their long weekend hike: 3 days in the wild! One day was more than enough!
I lost my Ipod Shuffle just when I came out of the bus to go home :(. I bought a new one with 2gb storage. I broke my headphone over the weekend too. I had to buy another one as well. Stupid Total loss for the weekend: 42+24= 66 GBP. Such is life!
