5 negative answers: in actuary because of no relevant experience
1 negative for Alcatel-Lucent: profile not corresponding to vacancy
1 contact: good background but maybe something else…Jenny
1 phone call: AIB, junior risk analyst position, still waiting for an answer since Thursday 17 phone call
1 job offer: IT help desk position… I declined without asking salary or company…next time I’ll ask for salary
Overall it is quite good for hardly 2 weeks and half of job hunt. I will try something else this weekend and be more aggressive in my strategy by sending to banks company directly and make my CV less specific and more general! I will also try the Monster.ie site, Claire and Rallez kept on telling me about it! And I might also try intellectual property and maybe some jobs in France too. Who knows!

Horrible day!

Bad mood!
I will never receive the PPS letter since they do not provide a second one due to the address mistake and because they do not accept the bank as a logical reason to issue another one!
I said no to an IT troubleshooting by phone job offer… I did not even ask about the salary!
I asked SG to give me a debit card: “carte bleue de retrait”, I can indeed use it anywhere here in Ireland and I can withdraw money 4 times a month without charges. I hope I will not have any trouble on that side. I had the card once already! But I am sure I will be rejected!
I am a bit sick. Maybe a cold at the pool!
Tired and very moody!

THE Lows and highs!

Nothing new since last Thursday! The big silence!
I am glad I can use directly my credit card to buy some nice clothes. A Nike sweat shirt and an Adidas T-shirt. And of course the waterproof boots that hurt as hell! Very fancy looking clothes though and I love them because they fit me well. I quickly checked on the financial part of my life and it seems that I have exactly the same expenses than in Australia: 500 for rent and 70 for general cost ( electricity+ internet + cable TV + gas): Total 570 Euros per month.
Claire has a small room, she pays 450 euros, Rallez has the big one with ensuite that comes at 600 and I have the double bedroom and I share the toilet with Claire. They are so quiet that makes the apartment almost creepy! I miss Nils who was much more social but I am not sure he misses me because he has tons of friends and now he owns the place by himself!
French banks are hopeless! Logitelnet from Societe General does not allow me to do international wires via internet. I had to send them a written letter with my signature and the target account info to make the telegraphic transfer. It will cost me 3.5 Euros. So I asked them to pay two months of my rent at once so that I do not bother again with it the next 2 months. I was waiting to open an Irish bank so that I can send money over Dublin using internet banking… It is now secondary and the PPS letter hasn’t arrived yet. This PPS letter has become a nightmare!
Because I do not have much after leaving Australia, I really cares about little things I have. I was so upset when I thought I lost my fancy ND pen given by JC to me for my ND graduation. It is very smooth; I was glad when i found it again.
I think we will get the digital TV cable package since it is very cheap. For barely 5 Euros per month more we have 100 channels instead of 16. Friends old episodes keep me well entertained during the evening and Claire sometimes came and watch them with me. Finally I went to a tan station to have 10 min of UV. I would not want to loose my pretty tan here. Everybody is so white that they look a bit ill!

Boring Monday!
Nothing happened! I think people are like me, they re not very productive on Monday! I changed the contact number on my logitel bank account. It took 7 day for them to update, then I tried to add an account today and I made a mistake with the code they gave me: GG6SNH. I wonder how I could make a mistake on such code. Anyway, they blocked me until tomorrow. Very strange!
I miss photography a lot but the weather is not very good here and it is cold now. As soon as I can I will take beautiful pictures of this capitol. I started to enjoy the evening, quiet and very pretty colors in the sky and in the morning, the birds ‘ songs are so beautiful. Compared to the horrible noises in Australia, it is a melody to my ears.

I do not like weekends!

34 job applications
Strange but I never liked weekends and holidays and that even when I was working in Australia. I like Friday’s afternoon/evening though. There is nothing going on during weekends for me right now so it is worse to wait for Monday. I went quickly to the shopping center to buy a balm for my dry cracked heels. It was full and the queue was so long that it discouraged me to buy anything. I was happy the pharmacy was empty.
I also noticed that since the weather is very humid, my eyes are no longer red, dry and itchy like it used to be in Brisbane. Such a relief! I sent many more job applications. I really enjoy it now since I started to get positive answers. They sometimes just call me! I can feel it, something will come up soon. That would be a total success in my move and my choice! Too early to tell but hope is there!

1 positive: a head hunter asked me if I wanted to work as a junior risk analyst for a Bank, AIB. I said yes and I am guessing he will send my CV to the Bank for further consideration. I was all excited about it!
1 contact: Dan, another swimmer, who is working for Alcatel-Lucent, asked me to send him my CV. He has forwarded it to his colleague for further consideration.
1 reply: Another head hunter asked me if I would like to work in other area than actuary. I applied for a trainee actuary position. She said I do not have the experience and the background but she is willing to work with me on something else. I said I would go for anything related to maths and finance.
Nothing to do but to wait and keep fingers crossed.
