Hurt like hell!
I was swimming nicely and all of a sudden my right eye got irritated. The pain slowly increased and I had to stop. I was doing pretty good. I don’t know what they put in that water but now my right eye is all red. I did very well though. A little hip correction and the regular sound coming from the Tech Toc helped me coordinating my body and arms rotation. For the same effort, I only need to extend longer and use all the energy given by the arm moves without breaking it. I hope the pain in the eye will go away. I bought new gogles for tomorrow.

It’s getting very hot nowadays. Luckily we have regular rain to cool things down. I decided to kill the washing machine and asked the owner to buy a new one. I noticed it makes things easier just to kill dying devices and ask people to replace them than explaining to them what is going wrong and that they should replace it. My flatmates were happy and we are getting a new washing machine on Thursday.
The team squads at the pool are on vacation so all regular swimmers have the whole pool to share! GREAT. I am using a Tech toc to improve my hip rotation and it does hurt a bit the first few days. Let’s hope it is useful.
I will probably get a student room with an ensuite and probably a part time job. The whole thing is pretty costly and will eat up half of my savings 🙁

A beautiful day in Ireland!
It is so rare that it is worth mentioning about it when it is here, a full day of sunshine… all day long! I have received the formal letter from Manchester Law school and I replied right away to confirm. It seems that I can do right away the LLM which is the master degree. It seems also that, in the UK, Masters are only one year long and Phd 3 years. Everything is shorter than other systems which is good. I will see because it is only 3 months more than the degree I wanted to do. All depends whether I can find a job within this period of time.
Both of my flatmates know about my departure now and they all seem okay with it. They were already warned when I joined them here. We shall have a smooth transition I am hoping.
The fee for the school is more than I expected because they do not consider me as an EU student since I was in Australia the last 3 years. They only count as EU/home students people who physically reside in Europe. O well I cannot stop now: one foot in front of the other…as usual!

In one month and half I will have to move again. I kept on saying that I am tired of all these changes but I am afraid it won’t be the last time. Such is my life! I just hope the next move will not be as scary as the last one. I got used to dramatic changes though, I just kept on putting one foot in front of the other.
The pool is closed for 4 days because of the Irish national competition. What a bad luck! I will miss this nice pool. There is a nice pool as well at Manchester but I am afraid it will be too busy. Maybe during the winter, people will be less inclined to swim :). I might start doing some rowing and maybe run again.
Yea, all I am hoping for is that life won’t be so fucking hard for me in the future!

I was accepted by Manchester University, I got the answer today. I will then follow a 9 months course starting September 2008 to become an intellectual property agent. After the course and the exams, I will have the fundamental exam that is the first step of a 3 to 5 year process to become a patent attorney. With a bit of luck, I will work for a law company after these 9 months. I wanted to get the fundamental exam in the UK because it will allow me to work in many countries: US, Canada, Australia, etc…
This is also the very first step in a long and painful life change process. I am happy now that I know what I will be doing the next 12 months.
It does make sense to take this path since I already have a Phd in science.

16 Weeks in Ireland

Summer doesn’t feel like summer here in Ireland. In Australia, it was the winter that didn’t feel right. Things do feel different but not worse than before maybe even better. There is a second meaning to this counting of mine!
No answer from the school yet even though I wrote to two different people. Good sign or bad sign? I do not know! I will have to wait.
I saw an Excellent movie: The Wackness, it is the same type of movie as Donnie Darko or The adventures of Sebastian Cole. It made me laugh but it was a very sad movie. Smart people was strange, not bad at all though!
