if I die Young – The band Perry

I was afraid after the shocking news of my boss departure that her number 2 would take over. I had issues with her at the beginning and I am not very comfortable working with/for her. It seems that they are looking for someone new and external to the service to take over which is good. I am relieved I should admit.
My own work is following its course and even though it is a bit chaotic and slow, things are going forward in the end and it is good for me. I was involved with many things that are often managed to higher level normally but, since I am fluent in English, I ended doing everything. The coming summer is giving us some more time also. I kind of enjoy my work and I hope I will continue this way.
4 months have passed and I should keep my eyes open for more opportunities. It is very hard to climb up the ladder in the same environment. One needs to get out to go higher in the hierarchy. My goal remains going back to Paris and having a higher salary. I would not mind working abroad again but it has to be for a french company.

Shocking News!
Out of the blue, my “local” boss announced her departure at the end of August. I am starting to have the feeling that all is going well and I was so shocked. It takes time to learn to work with a person and after 4 months, things are going better at work and now I have to get used to a new person or someone I do not like.I even learned to like my boss :). I have several bosses in fact and even though it won’t affect much my everyday work, it is still sad. It is always good to have a smooth relation with your bosses.
One good thing is, the other bosses already adjusted their habits and now they forward straight to me the work instead of going through my departing boss.
Life is so unpredictable. I need to get used to these events. In the private sector, these events are quite common and they are very brutal unlike the public sector where things are slower

A Week After!
I am happy I have another long weekend following last weekend to recover from the festivities. The first three days were a bit hectic even though I did manage.
It was a very beautiful wedding. The weather was at the “rendez-vous”, therefor, I could take nice pictures. I was deeply touched by my sister’s vows and her husband made me laugh with his mathematical metaphoric vows. Indeed, they were complementary. Her brother-in-law was also very good as the main host of the event. The happy, tired, and newlywed couple is on a trip around France for their honeymoon. They deserved it!
I should also mention that many pretty pictures were taken by my two little cousins. They have done a great job and I hope they will be around because I need them to take pictures of me. It is hard for a photographer to have pictures of himself most of the time.
I promised myself I would learn how to dance for the next event that may come. Whenever I have time, I will upload these pictures to a site where people can download them and select the ones they want.

I am getting in some sort of a routine and I do not know if I like this. I go to work, get home and play WoW. I do not go out much and do not check around even though I am surrounded by mountains. I haven’t found the courage to do so. Maybe I am really getting old now!
I bought a rowing machine today to force myself to practice intense sport. My real worry is that I get trapped in this routine. I intend to stay here at least 6 months or a year then I want to move back to Paris.
I need to motivate myself and stop being a lazy bumb!

Self-learning

2 months and 2 weeks have passed! I am determined to learn everything about this new job and I want to be able to do everything myself when I leave this position. This is my very first tutorial with Adobe Illustrator. Even though I am a technical writer lots of my work require images’ manipulation using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
I hope this is the beginning of a big step:

Back to the Hills

I went for a hike this morning. Very steep hill all the way up! One needs training and a strong heart to sustain the hike at a decent speed. I also took some nice pictures on the way. Don’t be fooled by the nice view, the city is quite small and ugly. Everything looks pretty on a nice picture!

I also managed to do few little things during the weekend: checked for a costume, did my laundry and downloaded few useful programs. Calm and enjoyable weekend!
