What to Do?

Okay you’ve just lost complete internet access from your provider, what to do from there?

1. Call your internet provider and file a complaint using your mobile phone.

2. Check the “Network and Sharing Center” in the computer and look for public hotspots. If you are smart, you may have kept the login and the password that were provided by your internet provider. Many internet services give nowadays a Wifi access if you are near their hotspot (it can be your neighbor’s adsl box)

3. Look for public places that provide internet access: internet cafe, public library

4. Look for hotspots from other providers. You might just be lucky and have one next door that you can easily access after looking on the internet (in the library) for shared login/password from other users.

5. Buy a 3G prepaid USB key. I just bought one from SFR and it came with 2 days internet access for 39 euros. I can then buy day by day illimited access 6 euros / 24 hours. I’ve always wanted to have one anyways because I can then buy internet access whenever I travel.

No Internet!

A real nightmare but it happened. No internet…They are going to check the connection. I managed to get connected through a hotspot using I’ve tried everything and managed to get a  key generator for login/password for a specific provider and I am using its hotspot. I cannot stay disconnected for long.

Unexpectedly, all members of both families were there. It is true that the only missing person for this traditional reunion is usually myself. It was very nice. There was too much to eat and to drink. We played some nice board/card games and of course some family Wii games. My arms are still sore from playing tennis with my little cousins.  I managed to beat them for one game with the help of my brother, I noticed that they always had the service!

I will put up some pictures as soon as I can. I am being caught in my Xmas’s gift: Star Wars, the Old Republic.

It Feels Weird!

So I am on paid vacation for 3 weeks but it doesn’t feel like vacation since it is the end of my contract. O well, such is life! I will have to get used to it. I guess it is more the perception from others that makes me feel this way. If i really wanted to, I could have extended and even stayed longer but I really did not feel like it and I did everything I could to end this way.

It was  originally in my plans to get a transition job to recover from a long unemployment and to move on. I never wanted to stay on the last job. It was boring but it was a well paid job. The people, I worked for, were really a pain in the ass. I think they hurt themselves but they will never admit.

All of that is behind me. I will just relax and enjoy these 3 weeks of paid vacation. I fought hard for them so I might just as well enjoy them.

Well I just signed some paperworks to end my current contract. I was in fact working for a “screen” company that sold my service to a bigger group, Schneider Electric. I then negotiated the end of the contract, the final dateline is December 30th 2011. I also managed to keep all my paid holidays so I will enjoy 3 weeks paid vacation starting Friday the 9th of December

I might have something else but I am thinking about it. I am not too sure about the fact I want to continue working for Schneider through “screen” companies, unless the salary is worth it. I want them to hire me directly. Truth is I don’t have anything yet but I can surely find something next year and I can probably sell my experience in the private sector also. We shall see! all I want to think about now is my coming vacation.

I thought the site was down for ever. There was some problem I think with the provider server over the weekend. I am glad it’s all fixed now and that I have nothing to do.

It was a hard battle but I got them! 3 weeks vacation to breath: 12th – 30th of December.

Well it’s a GREAT Week. I only work 2 days this week: Wednesday and Thursday. I am enjoying a 4 days weekend, Tuesday being public holiday + I took one day off this Monday. Also I am having a job interview with the IRSN (Institut de radioprotection et de la surete nucleaire) this Friday so I took one more day off.

I want to dedicate some serious time to work on my interview. It’s been great to be back home especially before the cold winter. Going home everyday and enjoying a family meal is nicer than getting back to my “cell” in Grenoble. I am saving money and I help my family at the same time. I hope I can manage a smooth transition and keep working somehow. I do not want to keep the current position after December. I rather be unemployed and look for another one. I also had an internal interview with my company for another position that would start next year. Again nothing is certain!

Even though things aren’t looking clear right now, I took the right steps to make the moves forward. I do not want to wait too long to move in my life anymore.

That is how I would resume this whole experience of mine. I do not expect much but I kept going forward and wait to see how things turn out. So far not too bad! It has been a little shock due the changes and the stress but I could handle them. Next week will be nice since I will enjoy a 4 days break from from 29/10 to 01/11. I cannot wait for next week to come to an end. People seem kind where I work and they started to get used to me.

The train , called RER A, is sad compared to the train, TRAM, in Grenoble. Lots of workers with sad faces. In Grenoble, tons of young students with lots of positive energy.

The work place is enormous and is at the top of a neat building, 20 people or so in a huge open space. I prefer the nice, comfy small room in Grenoble with an excellent view to the mountain nearby.

O well, it is hard to have everything and this is just a temporary position. We shall see,
