I used a regular webcam from work coupled with a “mouvement sensor” program I found on internet to setup my free “live and online” surveillance system: LINK
I would like to catch the dude who damaged the automatic door “in action”. I just do not want to record anything else creepier than that because my “street” is promising in terms of “unwanted” actions. If you click on the “live” screen , you will end up in the log files that recorded all the times during which something moved during 2 sec.

Finally, I invested in an HP Officejet pro 8600 printer. It was on sale for 158 Euros. It is a nice printer for small businesses and it has great and easy printing features: e-print (email), Airprint (iphone), Network printing (PC). The cost per page is also quite cheap 4.8 cents per page. Sometimes, I do need to be able to print  something during the weekend or during vacation, most of the time I print stuffs at work.

Airprint, the Iphone built-in printing feature, is quite remarquable: “click and go”. It is the last technical luxury I need in my studio anyways. It can also scan a bunch of documents one after the other, no need to feed the scanner one by one. It is quite annoying sometimes.

Amiot Tizie (apartment 5) came yesterday to ask me about the reception of her television. I fixed her problem, confirmed that one of her TV is dead and told her that she could use her smartphone to share the internet since she’s already paid for it. 9 people in the building have come to ask me for help regarding technical issues in the building already. My “Geek” status has been confirmed!

Yesterday, I checked the old photos from Ireland (Dublin) and the UK (Manchester). They did hurt me because I could not remember the names of people I was with. It was a lot of fun but it is forever gone. I guess these people forgot my name also. They still have some of my pictures on the hiking website of Manchester.
The memories of these events are slowly fading away and I do not have new ones to replace them. I should probably post all these pictures back on my Flickr site because they are really beautiful.

A 34 year old tunisian man killed a woman who was running in the park not far from where I live. We tend to have regular news of this type in my neigbourhood: LINK.  It does not shock many people around here. Tragedy has become the normal standard where I live.

When I moved to my new studio six months ago, I loved the studio and it was very nice. I wanted to make sure that all unfinished business in the whole building would be completed by the company that was responsible for the construction.

I noticed that they delayed the requests and there was no follow-up. It left everyone quite frustrated and we all had the feeling that it would never be completely finished. I took up the challenge and decided to deal with every problem that we encountered. I first tried to be nice and sent out notices then I attacked them publickly using everything that I know (blog, Facebook, twitter, emails, Flickr).

After 6 months of continuous effort, I think I am about to take over the control of the building itself. I am not too sure I want to continue but if I don’t do it, who will do it? There will be soon a general assembly that will decide the fate of the building. I want to make sure that it will be in good hands.

I’ve kept the whole story on another blog because I was not sure I would succeed. I was quite violent but it worked in the end!

I hope that the Iphone 6 will drive the price of the Samsung Galaxy 5S down. The real twist regarding the Samsung Galaxy 5S is LTE Advanced capabilities meaning 4G+ compatibility :).
Now what’s the use of having 4G+ if you can only afford to pay for 6 Gibabytes worth download!!! It’s like renting a highway and use it for 5 min each month!

I gathered more stuffs to give away: an old coffee maker in perfect condition (Rowenta) and a designed wall clock. I spent 2 hours cleaning the coffee machine. I now have 2 bags full of useless stuff to give away. I will give them to the Roms couple if they stop by this Sunday. I will try to gather more stuffs at work. There are so many goodies to give away!
I will also try to buy these freebies on the net or in the shops that are 100% re-imbursed. I think I can get a nice amount of useless stuffs to give away if I really want to. Let’s put my weird brain at work.

I do recognize the simple fact that I am privileged compared to most people in my building. I see their everyday struggle and I feel lucky being in my shoes. The only thing that I can help people in the building with is my knowledge regarding internet and computers. I seriously doubt that they have time playing with computers though. I could offer them tons of free movies but all my movies are in English. I could also show their kids how to download and play tons of games for free but I do not know if it would harm them more.
Indeed, their usage of the internet and computers is quite basic and limited.

That’s how I call some people in the building. The “caddies” use a golf-like caddy to go shopping. Yesterday, I even saw the “young-couple” dude pushing a shopping cart full of stuffs to the building. It reminds me of the Chinese students in Australia. They do the same thing to carry their purchase home.
