I’ve started the 10-days treatment against helicobacter pylori:
- 12 pills of pylera, combination of 2 antibiotics, per day (3 pills after each meal and 3 before bed)
- 2 pills of an IPP, omeprazole
After 2 days, I am feeling good, very good! I wonder whether the antibiotics killed other things besides this bacteria. Besides minor diarrhoea and headaches, nothing really annoying as side effects.

According to the letter from the specialist, the loss of blood had nothing to do with alcohol, it was just an accident that both happened at the same time. I made a mistake and I thought AINS meant alcohol.
AINS means: Anti-inflammatoire non stéroïdien (example: Ibuprofène)
Indeed, the specialist checked everything and he only found the bacteria in my stomach as the main cause and the use of AINS as the triggering event. I am feeling much better now! I can drink :)!

Here is the specialist’s letter to my “general doctor” in french:
Madame et chère Consoeur
Vous trouverez ci-joint les comptes rendus des examens endoscopiques de votre patient Monsieur XXX, né le XX, suite à la découverte d’une anémie microcytaire assez sévère à 8,7 g d’hémoglobine et notion d’un mélæna très probablement en rapport avec la prise d’AINS.
La fibroscopie retrouve une minime œsophagite peptique et une bulbite érosive de la pointe du bulbe.
Macroscopiquement le duodénum est normal, et à l’histologie la muqueuse est également normale.
En revanche, l’histologie gastrique met en évidence une gastrite à « helicobacter pylori » active dont il faudra envisager le traitement d’éradication usuelle*.
Sa coloscopie est normale.
On peut envisager l’hypothèse d’un saignement bulbaire dans ce contexte majoré par la prise d’ AINS.
Il me parait nécessaire de surveiller ce patient après un traitement martial, qui permettra d’obtenir des taux d’hémoglobine et de ferritinémie normaux.
Une ré-évaluation à distance du taux d’hémoglobine et du bilan martial me parait également indispensable avant de clore le chapitre et considère cet incident d’anémie comme ayant eu une étiologie ponctuelle.

I had an appointment with the specialist who is following my hepatitis B for 3 years now. Funny old doctor with a sharp tongue and lots of wits for his age! He is extremely smart! I learned to stay quiet and to answer only when he asks me questions… no need for extra chit chat with him!
Dr. X: (pulling me quickly in his office with a handshake), Where is your general doctor?
Me: She moved to Britany, doctor!
Dr. X: Right, I had the same impression, however I made the mistake to send to her office your results!
Me: (keeping it quiet with a smile and let my doctor think!)
Dr. X: Are you having a new general doctor?
Me: well, there are 3 doctors in that center and none of them wanted to have new patients (In fact I do not care since I have him as my specialist and he is really the best!)
Dr. X: Okay, I will manage, you have “Helicobacter pylori” in your stomach. This bacteria increases the risk of developping a cancer in the stomach. Are you still taking the iron supplement for your loss of blood?
Me: Not regularly but I almost finished the tablets you prescribed (not giving the impression that it was important at all!)
Dr. X: It is important that we check your iron level because, if you lost blood, your body will replace your blood using the iron. However, your body needs iron for other things to work normally.
Me: I understand.
Dr. X: I will prescribe a blood analysis (iron level), a treatment to remove “Helicobacter pylori” and we shall meet in June for your annual ultrasound tests and we will also check whether the bacteria was removed. You can do the ultrasounds with another doctor, I am only available for the ultrasound on Friday.
Me: I prefer you do it.
Dr.X: Okay! (he gave me all the prescriptions). Can you please read my instructions and let me know if you understand them?
Me: Is it a single day treatment?
Dr.X: (annoyed and he let his feelings appear on his face). Please read everything!
Me: (calm and quietly reading again). Doctor, unless I am mistaken, you did not write how long the treatment will last!
Dr. X: Sorry I forgot!
Me: (I smiled at his mistake) Geez, 10 days!
Dr. X: Yes and the treatment might cause some diarrhea and discomfort!
Me: Okay!
My doctor finished his prescriptions and kicked me out of his office with a handshake!

It is the cheapest and the most efficient cleaner I have ever used in my studio. Every now and then I buy 10 liters of white vinegar for 6 Euros and I add the boiled white vinegar to my dishwasher and my washing machine for 3-4 hours. I also leave all my faucet heads in boiled white vinegar.
It does not smell too strong but the results are remarkable! All the basic salt deposits are gone!

On a regular basis, I am having lunch with my ex-colleague from my previous job. She also left her previous position but she remained in the same company. Her current big drama is her 2 old kids and she is having a very hard time. With no diploma and no goals, her kids are having a hard time finding their place elsewhere than in her house. Of course, it creates a lot of tensions between them.
In my personal case, I always wanted to leave the house and live on my own. It is very hard to get along with your parents, they tend to try to live twice their own life. One very important lesson I learned from my past is: ASK PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.
I am so cynical that I reduce my own social relationship to 2 questions:
What do I want? what do they want? If we do not want the same thing, I go my way.
