My new job has taught me one of the most valuable lesson in life. What is most precious at work is not your knowledge or your skills, it is your ability to interact with as many people as you can.

I have surrounded myself with a lot of skilled people as soon as I could. I gave very sincere answers when I could. When things were politically sensitive, I kept my mouth shut and I obeyed direct orders.

I am starting to pick the fruits of my labor: I became reliable and I gained knowledge slowly but surely. I am protected by the most important people at work and I am part of every important projects without even asking for it. People were surprised to see me there but they all knew that someone very important invited me.

My boss asked me today a question and his gaze was too long to be innoncent: a director has proposed his space for me to join. I am currently assigned to another director. My boss was willing to let me choose but he warned me that if he cannot get me my new desk (where I wanted) I would have to join the new director :). Both paths are challenging and offer unlimited possibilities.
